Creation – The Final Weeks
Shortly before his death, Dr. Peter Müller-Meerkatz had one last heartfelt wish: his story should be written down.
He said: “I have three days left to live, we must hurry.” And so we began – he himself, his wife Eva, and I, his daughter Michaela.
We wrote tirelessly, hour after hour. After exactly three days, the manuscript was before us: the book was finished.
But for him it was not yet complete. It was not yet printed, not bound. With the help of two young people from Ruhpolding - Markus and Olesia Mittermeier - the work was produced in great haste outside business hours. Our special thanks go to them.
When the German version was in his hands, the moment of farewell had not yet come for Dr. Peter. “The book must also exist in other languages,” he said. And so I began to translate – language after language, one more each time. Whenever a new edition was finished,
he wanted to hold it himself.
After exactly two weeks, the work had been translated, printed, and bound in eleven languages. Dr. Peter was full of pride.
With his last strength, he even signed some copies. He thought about editions and sales until the very end, for his greatest wish
was that through the book a large sum of donations would be collected for children. He wanted to experience the whole process.
He even glued the stamps on the first book shipments himself.
The next day, the final stage of his journey began – a time of rest. But before that, he had completed, with full dedication, everything that was important to him.
A Legacy
It was so important to him to publish his story, especially for the people who had accompanied him in the Amway business for more than fifty years. He recounted his entire journey: the first meeting, the difficult lows, but also the many highs he experienced together with my mother Eva. This book is a single declaration of love to his wife – the love of his life – who stood by him day and night for more than half a century. My father was highly respected. He was calm, well-read, wise, and dignified.
And after this book, which he shaped with us until his very last active hour, readers will admire him even more.
